Ranstrom Chapel

Don Ranstrom was the Belfry Pastor from 1970-1998.  He entered into eternal life on November 17, 2014, and he is deeply missed.  We are honored to carry on his legacy here by holding our worship services in the chapel named in his honor.

We encourage you to post memories and messages to the Ranstrom family below.

The Ranstrom Chapel

  1. Don and I met at Gustavus in 1952. We were instantly taken to each other…as he was the OTHER Democrat at the college…well, almost. We shared many History and some Philosophy classes together and we both got inside of each other’s heads in a most congenial way. We shared four years at Augustana Seminary and then he and Roberta went their ways and I went mine…both in academics. Don was one of those constant, intelligent people who stayed with a topic and upon whom you could rely. He and Roberta always made a wonderful team together and his death ends a great partnership. To Roberta and the family I can only send warm hugs from Australia. Buck Emberg, Tasmania

  2. To my Dear Uncle Don,
Your kind and gentle voice will be missed terribly. Your smile forever in my memory. Your faith in God, always inspires me. You are in heaven dancing and rejoicing ! I Will see you again. Thank you for being in our lives. Thank you for being in My life. You Blessed us all beyond words.

  3. I first met Don when he interviewed for the Campus Pastor position at Davis. He made me think, always having a good question or observation to bounce back at me. Back then we had a strong connection with Newman House and it always seemed that we were exploring Christian similarities rather than differences as we moved ahead. A life well lived, a rest well earned.
