LEVN Program

The Lutheran Episcopal Volunteer Network (LEVN) is a program of The Belfry. In 2011, we explored joining the Episcopal Service Corps network and eagerly accepted this call to augment our ministry to young adults and the wider community. In 2012 we welcomed our first group of LEVN volunteers! This program is founded on ESC’s tenets of intentional Christian community, simple living, service of others, solidarity with the poor, promoting justice, spiritual awareness, and vocational discernment.

The LEVN program runs each year from September – July, and each volunteer serves 40 hours/week at a non-profit or ministry organization in the Davis-Woodland-Sacramento area.

LEVN meets every Monday night for worship, dinner, and discussion to reflect on the connections between our faith and our service to the world. LEVN volunteers also are involved in one of our local partner congregations, and are provided with a spiritual director for monthly reflection. LEVN is a program of the Belfry, and LEVN volunteers live in the apartment at the campus ministry center. The two programs are separate, but complementary. That is, LEVN volunteers can use The Belfry for fellowship activities and are welcome at joint LEVN/Belfry events, but the two programs are very distinct.
